I am in the process of writing a book about ghostly experiences at a psych hospital I work at, as well as some history of the place. There will be no names mentioned, except the name of the Hospital. All historic information I am using about it is public knowledge. So what, if anything, could be the legal implications of me writing this novel?

As long as you don’t make and slanderous or libelous claims about the hospital, you will be fine.

I would suggest, however, that you change the name of the hospital. It is not necessary, but for the sake of the reputation of the facility, it would be kind.

I’m starting way ahead and I’m trying to get some names of some Arts summer programs that have creative writing workshops. I’m not looking for the cheesy children ones, I’m looking for ones that are for actual teen writers. Does anyone know of any?

I’m currently in the process of having a book published, but I’m getting ready for college and I don’t want any potential revenue gained from my book to cause me to loose my eligibility for sports. Please help. Thanks!

Miese is right. You might even gain their respect! Writers like you have every potential to get started on a publishing career. Not everyone has the courage to face the publishing industry even if their literature is highly recommended for public consumption. Because you already have your materials, the next thing you might decide on doing is to find a publisher who will be your retailer, publisher, editor and distributor at the same time – which is of course not that easy to find.

I am writing a book about people and their pets. I’ve gone to several sources to ask people for a brief story about them and their pets and asked to include a picture. I have also included a "Permission to publish photo release form." I am afraid that some screwball might send me x-rated photos. Is there anyway I can prohibit that. Pictures may be submitted via snail mail or email.

Say your mail assistant is under 18 and anyone who sends pornography will be committing a felony, for distributing porn to a minor. When they’re caught, they’ll be placed on the sex offender list for the rest of their life.

That’ll keep the pervs at bay!
