I live in Vancouver, and wrote a childrens book. Any good places in Vancouver BC to get a book published?
You can publish it yourself and do the transactions online. Get this FREE book publishing guide and a publishing consultant will walk you through the whole process free of charge:

for children’s books, you usually don’t need an agent. it might be easier to do things through an agent…

You can either get self published e.g. Lulu.com
or you can get published, a bit harder, I recommend you an Agent and he will find you a publisher
do you still need an illustrater then you need to find one first.

Candy,
You’ll need to get a copy of Writer’s Market 2009 and look up agents that represent children’s books. I’ll give you a little insight on that. It’s not easy to get them published unless you’re a celebrity of some kind. It’s sad but true.
If you find an agent in the book, you’ll need to write him/her a query letter explaining what you have with a little synopsis included. Make sure your letter is free of any errors in spelling or grammar. You can get samples of query letters on the internet.
Good luck!

start with this article about publishing children’s books. there is a wealth of information in the links.
You shouldn’t limit yourself to just Vancouver, or even just Canada. Local is not always a good choice. A large portion of the publishing industry is in the US.
