Also depends on how long it takes you to edit till it's as great as it can get. You might write in in 30 days... but then you spend months editing it. Or you might spend a month or two writing and find you don't need much edit time. I assure you it takes a lot longer to write anything of value. Most authors probably spend three months or so just on the prep work - the outline, character studies etc. From there it depends entirely on how fast you write and how long the actual manuscript ends up being. Of course once you have finished it, that is just a first draft. You will need to do at least one more draft before passing it on to an editor to get in shape for sending queries to publishers and agents. But a good way to make sure it goes smoothly is to thoroughly plan out your book and have a good idea where it's going. It took me six months to write a rough draft of about 150 pgs, and that was moving quickly because I knew where the story was going.
