I’m trying to write a book. I have the whole story in my head, playing like a movie. It’s memorized. I’m in the process of putting it down on paper. The problem is, I can’t seem to come up with a good title. I don’t want suggestions for titles, so don’t ask me what the book is about. I just want to know a good way to come up with a title.
All comments welcome. Please help!
Most great authors don’t think of there title until there finished with the book and even then they change it over and over again. If you have a solid idea go ahead and put it on paper before you forget and then work on the title. Even though it seems like a huge part of your book it will prob be the easiest thing.
I think that often coming up with a title for something is best done after the story is written. Don’t worry about the title for now, write the story, then think of one. Good Luck!

If you have any symbols or reoccurring themes, you could try that. I can’t think of any examples, but just think about different books you like. How they came up with titles. I’m working on a YA novel, so most of my help comes from other YA novels. Like the book "Speak", the main character suffers a traumatic event and stops speaking. The whole book is her dealing with getting the strength to speak again. To tell people what happened to her. If you have any themes like that, you could try that. I hope that helped.

the way i find a good title for a book is to write the book first and finish off with a title because oncethrough the book you can find important things like the main conflict and use it as a phrase of sorts

The title of the book might come to you as you’re writing. Try to think of the main idea of your story. The title needs to relate to the story somehow, so you could use the name of your main character, an important place in the story, etc. Think about if you were walking through a bookstore and your eyes fell upon the title of your book. Would you want to pick it up and read the back cover? Give your book an intriguing title. If your book happens to be in the horror genre, you could use a phobia for the title, such as Claustrophobia. Of course, you want people to be able to pronounce it, too. Think of books you’ve read that you liked the title of. For example, two books I liked that have character’s names as the title are Eve Green and Odd Thomas. Another thing to decide is how long you want the title to be. It can be long, such as The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle or one word, such as Poison. I hope I helped! Good luck with your book! =)
