In Memoriam Aleksander Litvinenko (Jos de Putter, VPRO 2007)
It started as a possible case of food poisoning but within weeks turned into a grim spectacle of enormous political proportions: Aleksander Litvinenko, former member of the Russian secret service, died in his place of residence London last November, after having been poisoned with a radioactive substance. The search for the possible perpetrators lead to a political difficult situation that reminded us of the dark days of the Cold War. Three years ago Aleksander Litvinenko told his life story to documentary maker Jos De Putter. It is a wild tale full of conspiracies, assassination attempts and imputations. Litvinenko talks about his time with the secret service, about his experience in Chechnya, and in particular about the series of bomb attacks on Russian territory that led to the seizure of power by Vladimir Putin. According to Litvinenko those attacks were the work of the secret service. After Litvinenko’s funeral in December 2006, Backlight spoke to Litvinenko’s writing a bookLitvinenko is writing a book about her husband. The book will be published in May 2007 and the film rights have already been sold to Columbia Pictures. In this unique interview, she speaks about how they first met, how they fled to England and she speaks about AleksanderĀ“s death agony. We also see Litvinenko’s father Walter, with Chechen leader and Litvinenko’s closest friend Akhmed Zakayev and the prominent Russian exile Vladmir Bukovsky, also a friend of Litvinenko. The result is an impressive …
Sad, sad…. It was great that Aleksander Litvinenko had the guts to say the truth and let the rest of the world know what really is still going on in Russia today. In retrospect, nothing has changed, just different men run the game. May Sasha rest in peace. – ??????????!
Alexander Goldfarb, another Russian spy, admitted that Alexander Lltvinenko had entered Turkish territory with a fake passport.
Alexander Litvinenko was a former FSB terrorist who served two years in Russian jail for stealing explosives at FSB storage and beating up Russian citizens, according to former Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also clamored to assassinate people for an illegal fee and even thought to become a rich killer in Moscow, according to his taped video confessions.
i think this Litvinenko guy lost his head a little bit from all the stuff he has seen, war in Chechnya, political change, shortage of food, being a FSB officer made things ever worst, seeing all kinds of crazy shit they do, as every other secret service does, CIA, FBI, M16 or M15. Point is don’t join if you can’t take it.
@maxworld75 wtf did Britain deported Chechen terrorist who murdered hundreds in Russia? or Berezovsky who took billions out ot Russia illigaly? so stfu you brainwashed pig
@maxworld75 Where do you get your information?
PUTIN KILLED LITVINENKO. Lugovoi was an assassin. No wonder Putin did not let British Police to take Lugovoi, as it could spill too much of murder details, and it is just too obvious Putin ordered to kill Litvinenko. Putin is behind blown apartment buildings in Russia, and artificially extended eternal Chechen War, for the money laundering reasons. Russia is totally corrupted and controlled thief zone, where regular people live in poverty, and Putin and thieves live large, robbing it daily.
He knew to much and to put it bluntly, Putin had him silenced. Litvinenko talked to much and in the eyes of the KGB and Putin betrayed his country. The world is a very dangerous place and if you mess with the wrong people you will be executed. His death was a message, they made sure he died a slow and painful death for all the world to see. Scary stuff.
